Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of music do you sing?
A wide variety including classical, folk songs from other lands, spiritual
works and MORE!
Do I need to audition?
No. The Sing to Live Community Chorus is a non-audition chorus. For choral
members new to the chorus, there will be voice placement sessions in advance of
the first rehearsal for each concert. During these sessions, the director will
assess what part you would be best suited for.
What kind of experience do I need to have?
Past choral experience would be wonderful, but a strong commitment to making
excellent music is a must.
What if I can’t attend all the rehearsals?
In order to be fair to your fellow choral members, a commitment of at least 75% of
total rehearsals must be attended. In the case of a nine-rehearsal season, that
would mean that you are allowed to miss 2 rehearsals.
When are rehearsals?
Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings in Oak Park. Call 773.250.SING or

questions or to request rehearsal information.
Does it cost anything to join the chorus?
There are no membership fees associated in joining the chorus. The only costs you will
incur will be the purchase of music for each concert. This cost is approximately
$20-30 for each concert.
When are performances?
Performance dates will vary from concert to concert. For specific
information regarding upcoming performances, please call 773.250.SING or email
info@singtolive.org.
What will the choral members wear at the concerts?
All choral members are asked to wear black formal attire. Men are asked to
wear tuxedos, and women are asked to wear all black (long dress, long skirt or
pants with a black top – no sleeveless).
Can I donate to Sing to Live – Live to Sing?
Absolutely! Bring checks made payable to Sing to Live-Live to Sing, NFP to
any rehearsal and hand it to the Director. All donations to Sing to Live are tax
deductible. All donations will be greatly appreciated!
